Texas Republican wants nothing to do with lawsuit against early voting

Derek Cressman

Republican legislator Donna Campbell has asked that her name be removed from a lawsuit against Republican Governor Greg Abbott that seeks to reverse his extension of early voting days in Texas. Several Republican legislators and activists are angry with the Republican governor for making it easier for people to vote during a pandemic, but Campbell says she wasn't consulted about joining the lawsuit and disagrees with it. Texas is one of the few states that does not allow fear of coronovirus to justify voting by mail, so early in-person voting is the best option for voters who are concerned about Election Day polling places being crowded.
