The Democratic Chairs of the Senate Intelligence, Rules, and Armed Services committee have asked election equipment vendors ES&S, Dominion, and Hart to provide answers about bolstering security of ballots for the 2020 election.

Their letter includes questions about forthcoming "ballot marking" devices that produce a paper ballot with a barcode on it, which a voter cannot readily verify that it has recorded their votes correctly.

Other questions address older legacy systems still in use by many jurisdictions and steps to protect the supply chain of equipment and ballots prior to Election Day.
