TheIndependent Coalition is a coalition of independent journalists each of whom is responsible for their own content. We welcome strongly held and assertively expressed perspectives from diverse political viewpoints.
We also request, expect, and enforce respectful dialogue. Vigorous disagreements on ideas are welcome. Personal insults are not. Debate should always be at the level of ideas. The character of public figures is a legitimate dimension of political debate, but substantive comments are preferred over gratuitous insults.
We respect and adhere to the Chicago Principles, the set of principles on freedom of expression adopted by the University of Chicago and many other universities. Some adjustments may need to be made for the digital media sphere vis-a-vis the original university context.
