The CIA alleged that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is directing a misinformation campaign to spread lies about President Donald Trump's opponent, former Vice President and Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Although the memo does not actually substantiate the claim outside of the two "anonymous sources" they used, the media has been using CIA's memo in their reports as if it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a disinformation campaign being spearheaded by the Kremlin. The Daily Beast, CNN, and NBC are just a few of the news organizations that have uncritically pushed this narrative. For those who followed the 2016 election very closely, you may remember that this is around the time that NBC reported two "anonymous" CIA officials claimed that Russia was working with Donald Trump in order to steal the election from Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. That report sparked off the political and media frenzy known as #Russiagate. Despite the fact that Mueller's report already shut down the Russiagate narrative that started shortly before the general election of 2016, it looks like they are going to try and push the same narrative right before the general election of 2020. Niko House provides his analysis and explains all of the holes in this newly fabricated Russiagate narrative.
